Planted Cumin today

I pulled all the plants from my pots out front and planted Heirloom Cumin today. I have never grown cumin before, but we use it abundantly in cooking so I figured I would give it a try.
Serena also asked for a carrot and flower garden so I picked up a pack of these colorful carrots for her. She was so excited about them she insisted we go out and plant them last night.

Garden Tone

I just purchased Organic Garden Tone for my garden for the first time today.  I've been eyeballing it for a long time and broke down and bought it.  I used the entire bag making circles of Garden Tone around the drip lines of all my plants.  The man at the nursery told me I'll need to reapply every month, but that I should see a huge difference very quickly.

Yes, I know I have chickens and their manure is a great source of fertilizer, but sometimes it's just easier for me to buy a bag of something to put down.  (LOL!)

We shall see if there is a difference.  I will add pictures to this post later today.

Re-planted "Lincoln" Peas today

I planted a bunch of Lincoln peas in my Earthbox on Jan 8th and we had a few heavy rains that pushed the pea seedlings up and out of the soil.  Of the 35 I planted only one sprouted.  Today I went out and planted 15 in place of the 34 that didn't make it.  I also moved the earthbox to prevent the water from the roof from uprooting the seedlings.  Hoping for more success this time!

Planted 'Lincoln' Peas & 'Snowball Self-Blanching' Cauliflower

Today I filled my earthbox with the dirt I shoveled from the bottom of the chicken run and planted 35 "Lincoln" Peas.  Yes, that is a bit much, but I'm hoping half survive and grow well.  :)

I also added the remaining coop floor contents to the flower bed and planted "Snowball Self-Blanching" Cauliflower.

Crossing my fingers for lots of peas and cauliflower!  These are two of the veggies my family LOVES to eat, but we refuse to pay store prices for them.
